Fertility and ICSI program

A clear pathway through fertility treatment

Each stage is explained before it begins, so you always know what comes next. These are the main steps of an ICSI program.

Request a fertility consultation
  1. Step 1

    Consultation and assessment

Tests for both partners and a review of your medical history to set the right plan.

  2. Step 2

    Ovarian stimulation

  3. Step 3

    Egg retrieval

A short procedure under light sedation to collect the mature eggs.

  4. Step 4

    Fertilization in the laboratory

A single sperm is injected into each egg, and the embryos are monitored as they develop.

  5. Step 5

    Embryo transfer

The embryo is placed in the uterus in a simple procedure that takes minutes.

  6. Step 6

    Pregnancy test

A blood test about two weeks after the transfer.

Treatment varies from patient to patient. Your plan is set by the doctor after assessment.

Mobile phones and laptops during pregnancy: can the radiation harm the baby?

Phones and laptops emit non-ionizing radiation, which is different from the ionizing radiation of X-rays. So far there is no strong evidence that normal use during pregnancy causes fetal malformations. Even so, a few precautions are always sensible:

  • Keep the phone away from your body during long calls.
  • Use earphones or the speaker.
  • Put the laptop on a desk or a firm surface, not directly on your belly.
  • Take regular breaks from devices, and keep moving and resting.

In short: normal use does not mean a confirmed risk to the baby, and balanced use with simple precautions is always better.

Frequently asked questions

When should we see a fertility specialist?

A consultation is advised after a year of trying to conceive without success, after six months if the woman is 35 or older, or sooner when there is a known cause.

What is the difference between IVF and ICSI?

In IVF the egg is placed with sperm so that fertilization happens in the laboratory dish. In ICSI a single sperm is injected directly into each egg.
